Oct. 2: Clyde aims for its first league win when hosting Brady.

Sophomore Tyrees Whitfield’s three-touchdown night led Abilene Cooper (2-3) to a 28-21 victory over Midland Lee last Friday. Whitfield replaced injured senior Devin Johnson and produced 144 yards on 27 carries. The win ended a three-game skid for the Cougars, and against Amarillo, will look to get their first win at home. Whitfield earned a spot in our Player of the Week poll following last week’s performance.

The Sandies (4-1) are riding a three-game win streak after a 42-16 victory over Midland last week. Sophomore Jaelin Ford rushed for 179 yards for three touchdowns on 29 carries in the win. Amarillo’s bruising running game totaled 369 yards against the Bulldogs.
